Eames Dowel Legged Chairs

Eames dowel legged chairs are beautiful.  Bea-u-ti-ful.  I will patiently await my windfall while I covet these little guys from afar, but I can’t help but think about splurging for one every time I see one.

The above photo (by a really lovely photographer, Cara Robbins) is from the new Collected Magazine and is by far my favorite (ahem… it also has “HTML5″ listed on the chalkboard in the background… just, you know, wanted to mention).  Also, as a side note, Collected Magazine has been mentioned everywhere but I think that’s because this first issue was full of such great stuff…  if you haven’t looked through it, I highly recommend it.

Random but great: my friend just made a mobile for her little boy… love it!

Luc Roymans and a Ceramic Head

Photos by Luc Roymans

I kinda sorta want that ceramic deer head (photographed by Luc Roymans).  Sorta meaning really quite a lot.

Stellan Herner

Photos by Stellan Herner

The past two weeks have been insanely busy and I feel completely out of touch with the rest of the world, but more on that in another post. For now, I’m really loving these photos by Stellan Herner.  These are all from my bank of second-floor inspiration and I’m pretty sure we could never do anything similar with our space but I can dream, eh?

I’m also pretty sure I’d panel my whole house if I could.

The Selby… FILMS!

Wow, I had no idea that The Selby was doing short films so this was really of interest to me.  While I have always loved the idea behind his photos and loved his subject matter, I was always a little less inspired by his actual photographs.  Not to say that I don’t think he’s talented, just that I was less enthused by his technical approach.  But… his films?  Love these.

Cozy Beds

I have some sort of weird addiction to photos of cozy beds that I can’t resist. Saw this image today while searching through Pia Ulin’s portfolio (stunning!) and couldn’t help but mention it.

Color

I have a fear of color, as is apparent by our house and my wardrobe.  I love color but mostly when used with restraint and as we are finishing up things in the bathroom, I keep thinking about how white it is in there… we need color.  So in response to my phobia, here’s some color-therapy for the week in hopes that this weekend I can slowly start adding just a little bit of color around the house.  Just a wee-bit… easing into the idea ever so slowly.

Photos by Earl Carter

The top photo is by Damian Russell, while the bottom two are by Earl Carter.  Both are great photographers and I recommend checking them out!  If you really want to see some color, check out Earl Carter’s images sectionbold.

Have a great weekend!

Upcoming Project Inspiration: Cupboards

Photo by Jon Day via House to Home.

Loving these wallpapered cupboards (why do I misspell that word every time I type it?) and am getting excited to try this out at home!  Can’t decide between painting and wallpaper but I’ve never put up wallpaper so I’m not sure if this is an overwhelming task or an easy one… ?  Anyone ever wallpaper a cabinet before?

Kids

Photo found on DWR; item no longer available

How fun would it be to have a swing inside your room growing up?  We spent the weekend indoors with the girl and were wishing we had bought the indoor swing pictured above when it was on sale and available at DWR.  It was such a good sale, too!

I also really love the room on the right taken by  Brigitta Wolfgang Drejer (found via bloesem kids)—makes me miss the tall ceilings from our old house.

Shelves, Take Two

My hands-down, least favorite room in our house is the living room, which we also refer to as the crap-factory. It is the finest collection of our worst decisions.  Onto shelves.  I’m tossing around the idea of doing something similar to the shelves from DWR that I love but cannot afford, but I also love the idea of metal library shelves on the wall.  The white shelves from this picture and the black ones here are still my favorite but I’m also really loving these:

Then there’s the opposite end of the dollar-and-energy spectrum but equally intriguing low plywood set:

Anson Smart, A New Favorite

Photos by Anson Smart

I was reading an interview of Katie Quinn Davies on Design Files this morning and noticed she mentioned photographer Anson Smart. Hmm… like his stuff!  I also recommend reading the interview if you’re looking for good inspiration sources for food and photography, or get inspired by people in the creative industry.  On a side note, hooray for the weekend!
