Eames Dowel Legged Chairs

Eames dowel legged chairs are beautiful. Bea-u-ti-ful. I will patiently await my windfall while I covet these little guys from afar, but I can’t help but think about splurging for one every time I see one.
The above photo (by a really lovely photographer, Cara Robbins) is from the new Collected Magazine and is by far my favorite (ahem… it also has “HTML5″ listed on the chalkboard in the background… just, you know, wanted to mention). Also, as a side note, Collected Magazine has been mentioned everywhere but I think that’s because this first issue was full of such great stuff… if you haven’t looked through it, I highly recommend it.

Random but great: my friend just made a mobile for her little boy… love it!
I bought a couple of dowel leg sets on eBay to replace the stacking bases on a couple of vinyl upholstered shells we bought off of Craigslist, and they really did elevate the chairs to a whole new level of beautiful-ness. The bases are (obviously) not licensed, but they really do look perfect and I couldn’t be happier with them..especially since they gave new life to the old shells:

Awww! You are so sweet to give Ethan’s mobile a shout out. It was so fun to make and he is really responding to it. It keeps him occupied for a little bit when he wakes up in the morning. :)

I love those dowel chairs. We actually bought ourselves one, with 15% off, in Jan 2010 but it arrived with a big scratch across the back rest so had to be returned… the re-order date was months so we waited as long as we could and in the end cancelled the order. We bought an original shell chair with arms and original fabric and a new rocker base from eBay.
