Cozy Beds

I have some sort of weird addiction to photos of cozy beds that I can’t resist. Saw this image today while searching through Pia Ulin’s portfolio (stunning!) and couldn’t help but mention it.

I have a fear of color, as is apparent by our house and my wardrobe. I love color but mostly when used with restraint and as we are finishing up things in the bathroom, I keep thinking about how white it is in there… we need color. So in response to my phobia, here’s some color-therapy for the week in hopes that this weekend I can slowly start adding just a little bit of color around the house. Just a wee-bit… easing into the idea ever so slowly.

Have a great weekend!
Our bathroom is almost done! Here it is before we bought the house (previous tenants belongings). We kept the medicine cabinet, the floors (love those!), the vent (not pictured) and tub but scrapped everything else without regret… bye bye pink tile.
We had new plumbing and new electric put in throughout the house which was great! I love the idea of knowing everything inside the walls is in great shape and worry-free!
The vapor barrier and durock went up next, along with the same v-groove paneling we installed in the kitchen (just along one wall). I love, love, love it… but I have to say I’m a little worried about it with the moisture from the shower. So far so good but it’s always in the back of my mind.
The floors and vent are my favorite part of the bathroom… why can’t they still make vents like these nowadays?
Above are photos of the mammoth tiling project. I think we probably could have done this with less expensive tile but at the time we got caught up in having to make a decision quickly and chose this tile over spending a weekend hunting for a cheaper version.
More tile.
Above is uncle Joe who we owe our second unborn child should we decide to have more kids. He helped us night after night after night on this! Thanks Joe!
And here’s the bathroom looking in from the hall. It’s the only bathroom in the house so far so we had to get the majority of it done prior to moving in. We’ve been in now for seven months and it’s almost done. Almost!
Nathan had to work all weekend, so I spent most of the weekend with the girl… this is “Mousey.” My favorite quote from the weekend? When told she could not have a popsicle, Ada optimistically tells us, “Ada see it… Ada open it… Ada hoooold it… ”
I also joined twitter last week and I have to say, it’s most addicting! Who knew!

I have been coveting this light fixture for forever and I finally came across it on YLighting, right here! Only hitch is that it’s not a plug-in pendant… hmm…. is it illegal to convert a hardwired pendant into a plug-in?

Loving these wallpapered cupboards (why do I misspell that word every time I type it?) and am getting excited to try this out at home! Can’t decide between painting and wallpaper but I’ve never put up wallpaper so I’m not sure if this is an overwhelming task or an easy one… ? Anyone ever wallpaper a cabinet before?

Really? The house of Ferris Bueller’s best friend was for sale… in January? I’m coming out from under my rock, rubbing my eyes, and seeing this for the first time. So many school days were spent watching this movie with substitute teachers or on the day before summer break or on some random movie-day. Such good, bad, and awkward memories!
Such an awesome place! Am I the only one who missed this? Found here.

Photo found on DWR; item no longer available
How fun would it be to have a swing inside your room growing up? We spent the weekend indoors with the girl and were wishing we had bought the indoor swing pictured above when it was on sale and available at DWR. It was such a good sale, too!
I also really love the room on the right taken by Brigitta Wolfgang Drejer (found via bloesem kids)—makes me miss the tall ceilings from our old house.
